What is bail?
The amount of money / property, determined by a judge for a defendant to post to be released from jail until they go to trial is called bail. This is a promise made by the defendant in order to post bail.
The amount a judge sets for bail is dependant on many factors. Typically factors that have an influence on the amount include, the type of crime committed, how long the defendant has been a resident in the area, the community safety and a defendant's criminal past.

Most times it's simple called a bond. It serves as an obligation signed by the accused to secure that they will show up for a trial. This obligation means that the accused may lose money by not properly appearing for the trial. A Bail bond is often referred to simply as a bond.

This is any person or corporation who will act as a surety and pledge money or property as bail for the appearance of a criminal defendant in court. This is our role in the court system.
